The two major tourist destinations in Australia
are Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef – the
world’s largest rock and the world’s largest
reef. Once pilgrims travelled from one holy shrine
to the next along paths across Europe to Rome and
Jerusalem. From Uluru to the reef in a week is a
modern secular pilgrimage, from one global natural
wonder and tourist icon to the next.
